From 2001 onwards, my Deputy Mayor, Christophe Girard, and myself decided that the City of Paris would strongly back the film industry in all its forms.

Supporting independent movie theatres, fostering cinematographic education, helping associations and festivals that contribute to the diversity of the cinematographic landscape: these are a few initiatives that prove the ever growing love of Paris for cinema.

I particularly want to encourage filming activities and the cinematographic and audiovisual production because they are important sources of jobs and economic fallouts and contribute to the prestige of Paris in France and worldwide. [...]
