Energy This section is aimed at informing you on the various sources of energy available in Paris for filming or shooting purposes. The City of Paris wishes to encourage temporary indoor or outdoor electrical junctions on public roads. This solution is cheaper for production companies, limits the presence of generators and reduces sound and environmental pollution. Junctions contribute to the improvement of filming conditions in Paris and to the respect of the environment. If you consider filming on a location for 48 hours or more in Paris, we recommend you to use temporary junctions. The temporary junction will be made by ERDF: to this end, you can either contact ERDF directly or appoint your supplier to do it on your behalf. The activation of the junction will come into effect only after you have signed a contract with an electricity supplier. In order to help you along the procedure, we would like to inform you about the various steps you have to take. If you obtained a junction, we thank you to mention it in your filming planing. 1 - TEMPORARY SHORT-TERM INDOOR JUNCTIONS
In order to meet more rapidly production requirements, the procedure in Paris has been simplified. - Your request for a temporary junction does not exceed 28 days: you can directly contact the ERDF provider ou the energy supplier. - your resquest for a connection exceeds 28 days: you must contact the energy supplier.
. PreconditionsWe invite you, in the first place, to check whether a few preconditions are respected :
. Send your resquest
TO THE PROVIDER For a period inferior to 28 days, you can send your request directly to ERDF, by email : erdf-are-paris@erdfdistribution.fr or by fax + 33 1 40 28 36 09. TO THE SUPPLIER Since July 2007, the electricity market has been opened up to competition and several providers are now available in Paris. The list and their services are available on the website www.energie-info.fr. However, for the time being, EDF is the only provider entitled to handle your requests for temporary junctions. Temporary junction requests can be sent to EDF by email : edfcollectivites-iledefrance@edf.fr A pre-established document is provided (including the information necessary to process your application). You can use it and send it after filling it out.
. Processing of your request
After a feasibility study, two appointments are made : one to make the temporary junction and install the meter and the second for the removal at the end of the filming. . A pre-equipped site cabinet (with a meter and a differantial) must be provided . The installation and removal of the junction is made in the presence of the assistant director or a representative of the production company.
Cost : A single bill will be sent to the production company during the week that follows the removal. The name of the project will be mentioned for an easier identification of the film by the production company. It includes a 185 euros lump sum for the junction and removal cost and your energy consumption.
The time necessary to process the request varies according to the constraints of the network but you should allow about 6 week before the shooting.
. A technical feasibility appointment and the quote within 10 days. . A pre-equipped site cabinet (with a meter and a differantial) must be provided . The installation and removal of the junction is made in the presence of the assistant director or a representative of the production company.

If there is not enough time between the submission of your request and the filming day, you will be given a certificate allowing you to use a generator.
. Safety and reliability of the installation
The risk of power cuts during filming is very low. For your information, power cuts for Parisian users represent 24 minutes per year in average . The installation provided is under the responsibility of the production company (including the earth junction). The production company must check the safety of the site and the system chosen must be submitted to Paris Film approval.
